You can't win them all. We'll get them next year. They should enjoy this cause we hold the all time series lead. These are the kinds of things people say to try to make themselves feel better after a loss. These types of sayings don't work. In fact we feel even worse when we say them. Because we know they are crap. We know we don't mean it. We know winning this year mattered more. But don't go and do anything drastic. Don't yell at the dog. We have a method for dealing with these kinds of loses and we are going to share it with you.
First, limit the amount of time your allowed to be upset about a sports loss. We have a two hour rule. If your team loses your allowed to be upset for two hours. After that your a bad sport and need to let it go. Use these two hours to vent and do get angry. But after that, let it be. The flip side of this is that your only allowed to hang on to a win till the start of the next season. No one cares who won the 1984 Iron Bowl.
Next go look up the stats and line up of your favorite team in the next season. For us that meant going and checking out our favorite MLB team's lineup for 2011. It allows you to fill the void of having something to be excited about.
If you have a friend or coworker that is a particular ass, and fan of the other team, cut them off. Seek them out to congratulate them. We find even the biggest asses have a hard time being a jerk when you just congratulated them.
Finally, put it in perspective. Sports are wonderful and an important part of our life. But they aren't what makes or breaks each day for us.
With the playoffs and bowls on the way, we hope this helps some of you. And we hope even more that we don't have to use our system.
