| The face that saves college football? |
Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, wants to create a college football playoff. What Mark Cuban is attempting will be unbelievably difficult. The amount of money and power stacked against him will be impressive. Its not just the BCS executives that he will have to deal with. Inevitably, he will be opposed by the Big 10, the Rose Bowl, the SEC, and more than likely the NCAA itself. The recent interview of NCAA president Mark Emmert made his stance very clear. Although he didn't say he was opposed to it, he all but said his daddys are the conferences. This in our opinion is the most difficult thing anyone could do in sports today.
That being said, it needs to be done. Just because something is insanely difficult doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. In fact it may mean the opposite. The greatest achievements are always against long odds. Roger Bannister was told a four minute mile was impossible. He ran a mile in 3:59.04. Everyone said Lou Gehrig's
record for consecutive games couldn't be beaten. 2,131 games later Cal Ripken Jr. beat that record. We have no Joe Dimaggio of team owners. Mark Cuban could be that sportsman.
Long odds and impossible problems are what makes heroes. We honestly believe that if Mark Cuban is able to achieve this goal, he will set himself on that pedestal. He will put himself in a place as the man who saved college football. To make this happen will be hard, but the rewards will be incredible. It will be something for everyone. Mark Cuban won't be alone in this. Already over the week since he announced his ideas people have flocked to his cause. The entire country will be with him. When all of America is against those fat cats in the BCS and NCAA, what chance do they have? Tweet
