When You Start to Think the NCAA is Dumb, Read About FIFA.

Sepp Blatter aka Jerk Face

There is only one group of people who can make the NCAA look like a well run organization.  That group is FIFA.  The FIFA president, Sepp Blatter (yes that is his real name apparently, we checked twice), was asked what would happen to gay or lesbian soccer fans in Qatar?  Qatar was chosen by  FIFA as the site for the World Cup in 2022.  More on that here.His response was "I would say that they should refrain from sexual activities."  Way to stand up for human rights you bag of hot air.   It is baffling how a man of his stature could make such a statement. 

Blatter, went on to comment that the tournament is twelve years away so we shouldn't worry about it.  He said attitudes would surely change by then.  Qatar has had the same discriminatory stance since its independence in 1878.   Sure Blatter, all that will change in the next twelve years.  Mr. Jerkface aka Sepp Blatter also said that soccer really has no boundaries and that it would all be fine.  What on earth are you basing that on?  How in the world is soccer going to open up Qatar?  Qatar has extremely discriminatory laws against homosexuality. Homosexual people living in Qatar may face certain unique legal and social challenges. In keeping with traditional Islam, homosexuality is illegal. To say that the solution to these problems could be soccer is to undermine the seriousness of the problems faced by the LGBT community in Qatar.

Of course today after decent people all over the world were outraged Mr. Jerkface made this statement: 

"It was not my intention and never will be my intention to go into any discrimination, ... If somebody feels that they have been hurt, then I regret (it) and present apologies.''

Thanks for the apology.  But you know what a better idea would be?  Not having a World Cup in Qatar.
