The Palmetto Bowl

Clemson and South Carolina are similar teams.  They both come from South Carolina, a state that is a top recruiting ground.  They both have rabid and faithful fan bases.  They both have high hopes for their college football teams every year.  And they both chronically under perform and don't succeed in football.   Every year one of these two teams starts off ranked in the top 25.  Every year we hear about it being the big breakout year for one of them.  And every year one of them blows it.

But, this might just be the year.  With an absolutely terrible SEC east, South Carolina has earned a trip to the SEC championship game.  And a win in that game would send them to the Sugar Bowl.  It hasn't been perfect but at 8-3 and 18th in the BCS poll South Carolina has its chance.  A loss to Clemson though would spoil a lot of the fun.  Not to mention that a loss to Clemson would most likely drop SC out of the top 25.  If they want to win this game they had better focus.  If they get caught looking ahead to Auburn and the SEC championship, well it could be embarrassing.

Clemson wants it to be embarrassing.   Clemson would like nothing more than to strike at the mighty SEC in the name of the lowly ACC.  Clemson would love to say "You may have won the SEC East but a 6-5 ACC team beat you".  This game has trap written all over it.  And Clemson knows it.  The last thing Clemson wants is to become the second team in the Palmetto State.  South Carolina has had trouble coming back from behind all year.  Clemson needs to get ahead early, and stay there.

Prediction: Clemson keeps it close and knocks off SC.  Clemson claims a mighty victory for the ACC.
