Vols Basketball Coach Suspended

Bruce Pearl the head basketball coach of the Tennessee Volunteers was suspended by the SEC today. He will be banned from the first 8 SEC games this coming season. This is well deserved. Peral had previously admitted to lying to NCAA investigators.

However, one has to question the timing of this announcement. The SEC and the NCAA have known for months that Pearl lied to them. The timing , now , in the middle of all the investigations and drama surrounding Cam Newton is suspicions at best. Was this to show the rest of the country that the SEC doesn't allow rules to be broken? Was it an attempt to take some of the heat and attention off the Cam Newton investigation?

We are not a fans of conspiracy theories. But the SEC is trying our understanding. We are starting to think that the SEC is willing to do whatever it takes to keep the big money and the big wins rolling in. We will be doing a story later today about the SEC's perception around the country and if that perception is accurate. Stay tuned for that.

As for Bruce Pearl and the Vols, you got off easy. The NCAA suspended Dez Bryant for an entire year for lying to them. 8 games isn't so bad.
