Chart of the Day, ACC / Orange Bowl Deal Exposes New BCS

New is old, old is new. Some things in life can be counted on, water is wet, and the folks who run college football are morons. The Orange Bowl announced today that it had made a deal with the ACC, to guarantee a spot for that league's champion in its bowl each year. Which means that the automatic qualifier is still around, and not dead like Jim Delany has been trying to convince us for weeks. Business as usual for the folks that make a buck off college football.

The worst part is that if an ACC team makes the final four playoff (It could happen ... theoretically) then another ACC team would get put in the Orange Bowl. Yay! I can't wait to see Wake Forest loose by 80, because Clemson is busy losing by 80 in the playoff! In the case that 2 ACC teams are in the playoff the dark seal is broken, demons flood the world, and Revelations begins.

Basically this BCS is no different than the last BCS. We get a playoff, but the bowls will still act as the bowls always have. At least the FSU administration can sigh a sigh of relief that their Orange Bowl paid vacations are no longer in jeopardy.

The Bowls used to be about creating exciting great match-ups for college football. Now they are about creating awful match-ups based on nothing but money, so they can steal as much as possible from public universities. Way to go presidents and commissioners you really out did yourselves this time.
