Steve Spurrier is Mad That Life Isn't Fair

On Tuesday South Carolina Head Coach Steve Spurrier sat down to talk to Dan Patrick about his team, the off-season,  and of all things, social media.  It wasn't the fact that the 66 year old Spurrier hated Twitter that surprised me, it was that he still hasn't outgrown being a tattletale.

Spurrier was upset that Alabama received what he called "favorable treatment" from ESPN.  Spurrier's complaints revolved around the ESPN special on Alabama's training camp and the Alabama "Roll Tide" commercial  that aired during last year's bowl season.  Spurrier was so upset by this "favorable treatment" that he went to SEC commissioner Mike Slive to complain.  This is where it gets really 3rd grade tattletale,  Spurrier asked Mike Slive "what ever happened to Go Gators, Rocky Top, or Go Gamecocks?"  Spurrier says he just didn't think it was very fair.

What Spurrier is completely missing is that Alabama was the preseason number 1 going into the year.  This year since Oklahoma is the preseason number 1 they are getting the ESPN special. When you are the projected best team in the country you inherently get more attention.  I doubt Spurrier was complaining as hard when he was coaching the Florida Gators and they got more college game-day appearances than anyone else in the country.  Maybe he should worry less about what everyone else is doing and more about USCe?  South Carolina beat then 1 ranked Alabama last year, making them the talk of college football for the next week.  If they had stayed on track and run the table on a pitifully weak SEC east they would have been in the top 10, and gotten a lot of attention.  It wasn't Alabama or ESPN's fault that they went and lost to a struggling Kentucky the very next weekend.

It gets better though, in the very same interview Spurrier answers complaints from former Gamecock Bryce Sherman.  Sherman was upset because his scholarship was not renewed this year and he was cut from the team.   Spurrier's response was that he was a walk-on, and should known scholarships are only one year deals for walk-ons.

So basically after this 66 year old man complained that people didn't treat him fairly, he tells a college kid  that's life.  Sorry Spurrier maybe it's time for you to grow up a bit and learn to be less of hypocritical jerk. You could get that much attention for the Gamecocks; all you have to do is make USCe a preseason number 1, good luck with that.

You cant see the forest because of the tree's! The ball coach has every right to be upset, along with the whole country about Alabama's favoritable treatment! Let me guess your one of the narrow minded bafoon's who think that Boise State should play for a national championship for past domination of scrub squads! If I remember correctly the Gamecocks pimp slapped bama to end their win streak along with man handling the Heisman trophey winner of the year before! Where is my commercial? Dont remember seeing bama in the SEC championship last year! By the way,see you there again this year! GO GAMECOCKS!!!

I think Bama does get favorable treatment (and officiating)in the SEC. They even wanted to play the SEC Championship in Birmingham. I know the SEC headquarters are located there, But still, Birmingham? Give me a break. I loved having Spurrier as our coach at UF, but he was definitly a belly acher. He's also, arrogant, intense, egotistical, and overall, a top knotch kinda guy.
