The report does not comment on, or investigate, the practice of loaning cars to student athletes. Lets not forget that Terrelle Pryor was pulled over in 3 different brand new cars while at Ohio State. Each time he was pulled over he just happened to be driving a loaner while his car was in the shop. That is one heck of a coincidence.
It is interesting that ESPN as well as other sports outlets are using this report as an all clear on Ohio State's car issues. ESPN also took a lot of time getting around to accusing Jim Tressell of any wrong doing, even though they had emails implicating him. Of course Ohio State is a big time school with a lot of fans who are ESPN watchers. We all know how Ohio State fans react if you speak ill of their institution in anyway, whether it's true or not. Good business says that ESPN should try to show they are on both sides of the issue and that they aren't coming down on Ohio State.
Like everything else in this country this has become about money, not right and wrong. ESPN and the news would rather throw a bone to the Ohio State faithful than explain the report truthfully and honestly. We have become a country that reacts to any news that is damaging to our institution, party, race, or whatever as a personal attack on us. We react with vile and craziness much like Auburn did with the Never to Yield Foundation.
This report is good news for Ohio State, but it does not clear up all the car issues for Ohio State. There are still questions to be answered and more investigating to be done. I just hope someone is willing to risk the backlash to do it.
