Reputations at Stake with Cam Newton Tapes.
Sports by Brooks had two recent reports on the Cam Newton tapes. The first Sports by Brooks article we honestly had a hard time following. The headline reads Infamous M-State Tapes Do Not Include Newtons. However, we could not find anything in the article that said that the Newtons were not on the tapes. What we could find was Moore saying that he thought that it was the Newtons on the tapes, but he couldn't be 100% sure because he isn't a linguistic analyst. Also in the article Brooks says that a "source" of his told him that the only tapes are recordings of former MSU quarterback Kenny Rodgers speaking to Bill Bell on voicemail. Yesterday John Bond went on Scott Moore's radio show. On the show Bond said that not only were the things he and Moore said true, but that he would provide Moore with a snip-it of the tapes to exonerate himself and Moore. Brooks did not comment on this development or correct his previous story. Brooks second article on the Cam Newton tapes was titled Moore's Confusion: "Iv'e Never Heard Cecil Talk" . This title can be described as misleading at best, downright lying at worst. Moore said in an interview that he could not verify it was Cecil he heard on the tape 100%, because he had never heard Cecil Newton talk elsewhere. Moore said that he was lead to believe that Cecil was who was on the tape, so he was assuming it was. Brooks spun this as Moore saying that Cecil was not on the tape. Surely Brooks understood what Moore was really trying to say. Theses two article have to put Brook's reputation into question. Brooks ended the day yesterday by claiming that the tapes were a "non-story" on his facebook page, saying he would no longer cover them. About 5 hours later Brooks talked about the tapes on his facebook page.
Moore's reputation is at stake as well. If he is lying about the tapes it could end his career in broadcasting. However, after hearind John Bond come on his radio show and say that he wasn't lying, it's much harder to make the assumption that he was. If Moore was lying, Bond is now doing so as well. We will find out when they play the snip-it from the tapes.
Bond Explains Why He Hasn't Released the Tapes Yet.
John Bond, again speaking on Moore's radio show, said that TMZ and HBO had offered money for the tapes. Bond doesn't want money apparently, what he does want is publicity for his foundation. You would think that TMZ or HBO would be quick to make such a deal. Perhaps the amount of publicity that Bond wants isn't something they are willing to do. If Bond were to take cash for the tapes it's highly unlikely he would be able to get enough to buy a significant amount of national advertising.
Supposed Tape Hits the Web
A link to a supposed snip-it from the Cam Newton tapes has gone viral on the web. The authenticity of the tape is not confirmed and it is a difficult to hear piece of audio. Bond and Moore have both stated that the clip on the web now did not come from them. It could be from Bell's tapes, or it could simply be a hoax.

97.7 The Zone, home of Scott Moore's radio show issues Statement
97.7 the Zone issued a statement about the Cam Newton tapes. The statement is basically lawyer talk that says that they will not release anything till its authenticated. It also gives the station an out by saying the views of Scott Moore aren't necessarily the views of the station. It will take time to authenticate any tapes, this may mean waiting a few days or weeks. It would be better for everyone involved if they were authenticated first anyway.

This story seems to be developing by the hour. We will of course keep you posted with updates as they come. We are not convinced that the tapes are real, but we are not convinced the tapes are fake either. We are skeptical, but you have to admit this is getting interesting
We are not a non-story, we are bi-winner.
