The trouble for the Never to Yield Foundation doesn't end there, the group posted a list of companies that it said advertise with Scott Moore's show. The problem is that the list is not correct. They have listed companies that haven't advertised with 97.7 in months, as well as companies that never advertised with Scott Moore's show. An example posted at Trackemtigers:
I appreciate all that you guys do at Track Em Tigers! I am a huge Auburn Tiger fan and I want Scott Moore gone as well. However, there has been a false list or a series of people making false statements about a particular show sponsor, AllSouth Appliance. AllSouth Appliance has never advertised in Scott Moore’s program and will not advertise in his show or the station ever again. AllSouth has never spent one dime with 97.7 The Zone, during the holidays of 2010 AllSouth did some trade with The Zone and ran ads ROS but mainly they ran during the morning and afternoon timeframe. To my knowledge Scott Moore’s show is a rather brand new show and wasn’t even on the air last year when AllSouth Appliances ads ran.
This company sounds very reasonable and willing to forgive and forget as long as the record is set straight. All the companies affected may not feel this way. Never to Yield may be causing damage to companies that were not in anyway associated with Scott Moore or 97.7 the Zone. Never to Yield Foundation has opened themselves not only to legal action from Moore, but from the companies wrongly placed on their list.
Which brings us to the next problem: The companies on their list are being targeted using false information put out by the Never to Yield Foundation. They are basing this boycott on the fact that Scott Moore lied, but no proof he has lied has been found. It would be like us asking everyone to boycott Paul Finebaum because he hates beer. However, we have no proof Finebaum hates beer. Finebaum may love it, we don't know, we just made it up. Boycotts are a powerful tool to be used to affect social change; they are important and should be used by concerned consumers. However, if you are libelous, or base your boycott on a lie and cause damage to a company because of it, you are culpable for that damage.
Also partially culpable will be the Auburn blogs and sites that posted this list or an endorsement of the Never to Yield Foundation's actions. On March 5th Koolbell777 a manager at Trackemtigers had this to say about the foundation:
This was sent to me earlier today. Below you will find a brief statement, a list of sponsors of Scott Moore's radio show, and a blank letter for you to copy and paste to your computer, and then fill in the blanks with your info and send directly to these sponsors.Let these people know, we as Auburn people, indeed as human beings will not tolerate this type of behavior, nor will we support any company that would sponsor such behavior.WAR EAGLE!
This is an endorsement of Never to Yield, their actions, and statements. It makes Trackemtigers culpable for libel as well. You can not simply claim you didn't know that your dad was shopping you that the Never Yield Foundation was making false statements or had targeted the wrong businesses. By endorsing the statements and posting the list created by the Never Yield Foundation, Trackemtigers has now become a party to their actions.

Sorry, but posting a disclaimer two days later, in a separate post, doesn't absolve you from blame. Trackemtigers had already become a party to the statements and boycott created by the Never Yield Foundation. The responsible action would have been to take down the list after knowing that some of the information on it was incorrect. Then post a statement saying that you would have nothing further to do with the Never Yield Foundation. A half-hearted statement two days later while leaving up the bad information will do little to wash your hands of the situation.
We need to always be careful when dealing with attacks on the livelihood of others. You had better be sure you are right in your cause and actions. If you are not, and you support these actions, you open yourself up to all kinds of trouble.
Never a disclaimer, I always stand by my idiocy.
