Jim Harbaugh has bolted for the San Fransisco 49ers. So what becomes of Stanford? Andrew Luck has already said he is coming back next year. The Stanford team looks good and could make another BCS run very easily. This is now a big time college football job. You can expect all the big names to get thrown in the ring. Paging Gus Malzhan!
Gus Malzhan is a guy who will get a look of course. His spread offense doesn't really fit into the Stanford Pro world however. Tommy Tuberville and Houston Nutt will of course throw their names in the ring cause they just can't help it. If those two don't get talked about in every coaching search they get their feelings hurt. But truthfully I think if I were Stanford I might look at Ken Niumatalolo. The guy has done great stuff a Navy and would be a great fit for the Stanford scene. David Cutcliff out at Duke should get a look too. Sure Duke is bad but they aren't awful. And before Cutcliff they were awful. Ole Miss was nuts to let Cutcliff go, is it time for a second chance? Our pick would be Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern. He is at a school eerily similar to Stanford. High standards, and not a ton of fan support. He has a Northwestern team that has gone to a bowl two years in a row and won their bowl this year. Give him a call Cardinals.
