For TCU Roses are Blue

For a team that won the Rose Bowl, TCU sure has gotten the short end of the stick this year.  We aren't just talking about not being in the BCS National Championship either.

First off, TCU shouldn't be headed to the Big East.  If the "we do what the University of Texas says" conference (also known as the Big 12) had any guts, TCU would be a future Big 12 member.  Colorado and Nebraska broke up with the Big 12 earlier this year.  That put the Big 12 at 10 teams.  It was a golden opportunity to get TCU and Houston.  Both teams in the same geographic area with strong sports programs and lots of room to grow.  That would mean that the University of Texas would have five other major Texas state teams in the Big 12.  They would lose their recruiting edge: no longer being able to say "Sure TCU is great, but they will never play for a national title."  To be honest the University of Texas, in our eyes, looks like a coward.  Of course, it's hard to argue that TCU wouldn't have beaten The University of Texas  from one side of the field to the other this year.

Looking at the way TCU played this year and comparing that to the play in the National Championship game, we don't see any reason why TCU couldn't have hung with Oregon or Auburn.   Neither Auburn nor Oregon was very impressive in the game.  With TCU's defense, it could have been a battle for either team.  However, that chance was taken away from them by the NCAA.  We have talked about that in length

TCU may get the last laugh though. By joining the Big East, they put themselves into an automatic qualifying conference.  An automatic qualifying conference that is arguably weaker than the conference they were already in.      We expect TCU is at the start of a run of BCS games.  We all know karma can be unkind.  When a one loss University of Texas gets left out of a championship for an undefeated TCU, we will see who is laughing.
