championship game. They have had an incredible season. They have run over every team they have faced. Even coming from behind. You would think the Auburn fans would be celebrating in the streets and spending their time counting down the minutes until January 10th. You would be wrong.
Auburn has been the source of much derision this season. They have had success after success over-shadowed by scandal after scandal. When you are the top team in college football you get the most press. Go to any sports site or turn on ESPN and you will hear five stories about how great the Auburn football team is. You will also hear one or two stories about all the scandals and mess following this team. That is the way of the world though: when you are at the top, people want to hear about you more--good and bad.
We do believe that in the end this Cam Newton story will be bad for Auburn. Too much smoke to not have any fire. However, the entire reason for this story is not because people hate Auburn. The New York Times wouldn't be spending this much time and resources on Auburn if they were ranked 30th and playing in the Music City Bowl. The New York Times nor ESPN have a secret agenda to ally themselves with Alabama n an attempt to take Auburn down. Seriously Auburn, enough with the black helicopters and secret meetings. There is no great media conspiracy to attack you. You are just in the national spotlight. This is the natural consequence of that spotlight. Here is the perfect example Track Em Tigers. Another rant by an Auburn fan about the "haters." First, if you use the word "hater" to describe anyone that disagrees with you , you are an idiot. Second, ESPN doesn't hate Auburn. ESPN just covers sports news. Auburn is the current news, so anything associated with their program is going to be covered as well. It is that simple.
Get over it Auburn fans. Get out there and enjoy your time in the spot light.
