Horned Frog Hopes

It's not just South Carolina fans that will be cheering for the Gamecocks on Saturday; the State of Texas cheers with them.  It's been a hard football year in the state that may love football more than any other.  The Cowboys are just awful.  The Texas Longhorns had their worst season of the last 15 years.  But there is still one hope for Texas.  The TCU Horned Frogs.  An unlikely contender from a non automatic qualifying conference.  But that is also the problem.

TCU has done everything you could want or expect them to do this year.   They have badly beaten all opponents and have played hard all year long.  But by not being in a automatic qualifying conference they still need help.  They got some of that help last weekend.  Boise State the other upstart with a shot at the title was beaten by Nevada.  But they are still number 3 in the rankings and stuck behind Oregon and Auburn.  The only way for TCU to make the title game is for Auburn to lose on Saturday.  It may not be out of the realm of possibility.  Auburn and South Carolina already played one tight game this year.  And we are sure the Ole Ball Coach was watching the Iron Bowl.    He knows Auburn has weaknesses now.  More on that in our SEC Championship article.

Usually you would expect a one loss SEC team to still jump a team like TCU to go to the big game.  But this loss would be very late in the season.  And to top that off the voters have in the past showed their displeasure in teams who do not win their conference championships.   If Auburn loses this weekend, it will lose not only the SEC championship but the BCS as well.   And for TCU fans the rallying cry is GO GAMECOCKS!
